Ian Niall Ian Niall (November 7, 1916 – June 24, 2002), born John Kincaid McNeillie, was a writer from Galloway in Scotland. He wrote his works under both names. He was born in Old Kilpatrick, to parents from the Machars in South West Scotland. He moved back to Galloway at eighteen months old, and the area formed a basis for his early fiction, and in the 1940s moved to North Wales, where his son the writer Andrew McNeillie was born. He died in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, in south east England. ==Films== In 1951, the film ''No Resting Place'' was directed by Paul Rotha, produced by Colin Lesslie Productions, and starring Michael Gough, based on Ian Niall's novel. ''A Tiger Walks'' is also based on his works.
